Ability to add comments to workflows
Notes/comments would allow marketers to explain the logic behind how/why a workflow is setup the way that it is. This would be incredibly valuable when revisiting after a while and for other team members to learn/understand/leave feedback.

5+ years later and this is still extremely necessary! My company uses Vero for all parts of our business, and as one of the few people who manage our automation I am always getting requests to explain the logic of workflows, their purpose, etc. This would be incredibly helpful for users who only have viewer permissions and don’t work in Vero on the day-to-day. The cherry on top is this would be a massive time saver for people like me who have to spend the time explaining how workflows operate in language that makes sense for everyone.

Hey @Rachel Veslany, thanks for this comment, it’s very useful to understand the use case and frustration. A question for you: if we built an MCP or other way that team members (with read only access) could ask ChatGPT or similar “Explain to me what this workflow does?” — do you think that would be a better solution? Or could never quite solve the problem.
We’re looking at building something like that. The AI models being generally smart enough to explain at a high level what is happening within a workflow graph. We’ve still got some testing to do, but I’m interested if it seems like a useful direction.

Hi @Christopher Hexton ! Thank you very much for your response! A MCP or use of another AI tool would solve this at a general level. I can see this being very helpful if teammates need to generally search for workflows or want to know the contents of the workflow. For example, I get questions from our Product team about what are all of the workflows we have related to a certain feature or user type, and your suggestion would remove me needing to field these questions each time.
However, I am unsure if it could solve the other need to explain what filters are and why they are placed in certain locations without the ability to provide additional context somewhere from the person who set the filters. Some of our program workflows are highly personalized using filters, and majority of the questions I get are “why is this here” or “what does this mean.”
Overall, having a tool like this would solve a portion of my comment. Definitely a great step in the right direction, and learning this is potentially coming soon is exciting! Thank you, Chris!

Thanks @Rachel Veslany, good to know. I suppose it comes down to how smart the LLMs end up being at understanding what is happening in a workflow/journey.
Ultimately the ideal is to have both features (comments + the LLM support). I would say we’re most likely to release the LLM stuff first as AI-related features are certainly in high-demand and a priority, but will discuss both internally.
I know that when building the new version of journeys we have explicitly discussed and sketched how we will add comments: it’s a matter of time more than anything else.
Thanks for the detailed feedback!
